                                    March 13th, 2012

The Carnival Pride cruise ship is excellent! The ship’s staff is super courteous and caters to every need. The formal dinners each night are excellent the the captain’s dinner night with lobster is incredible! The buffet food is good and there is plenty of variety to eat or snack on throughout the day. You will never be hungry on a Carnival cruise =) The entertainment is well-planed and there will never be a moment without something do do. If you just want to relax beside the pool, that works too! The passengers aboard the Carnival Pride (at least from Baltimore to Bermuda) tend to be older. Some people dislike Carnival because it tends to be overrun with kids. That’s not the case with the Carnival Pride, at least for this destination. I highly recommend the Carnival Pride. It’s a great value and getting in and out of Baltimore is easy.

Secrets of the Italian Cruise Ship Disaster

                                                    February 10th, 2012

Last week tragedy struck off of the coast of Italy when the Costa Concordia cruise ship capsized off the coast of Tuscany. We have all been hearing some parts of the story emerging from that scene, but what important secrets has the main stream media been leaving out? What lessons can we learn from this event? We know the crew of the cruise ship acted selfishly and out of self-preservation, leaving the passengers to drown. Many of the passengers who did survive ignored the recommendation from the cruise line crew that, “there is nothing to worry about”. This teaches us that those who blindly put their trust in an all dominating authority or nanny state only put themselves in the position to be the victims of unending corruption.

For more than four decades, Norwegian has committed to the protection of the oceans and most significantly through sustainable environmental practices, investments in technology and a commitment to exceed regulatory requirements. Just in the past five years, Norwegian has: • Steadily decreased the proportion of solid waste handled aboard ships and steadily increased the volumes going to beneficial reuse and recycling programs; • Treated black and gray waste water to near drinking water standards, earning local government approval in states with some of the most rigorous discharge laws; • Taught 473000 children and youth passengers (2-17) to become better stewards of the environment through the “Officer Snook” education program, offered exclusively on board Norwegian’s ships; • Delivered more than 400000 gallons of cooking oil onshore that has been converted to bio-fuel for use in motor vehicles, reducing petroleum consumption and greenhouse gas emissions; and • Recently, has invested in the environmental future of its 250-acre private island, Great Stirrup Cay, by installing new water production, wastewater treatment facilities and disposal, as well as implementing new recycling activities. In addition to these recent initiatives, Norwegian has made significant investments in environmental protection technology, as well as on staff devoted to environmental protection. Each ship sails with a trained Environmental Officer (EO), a three-stripe, non-watch standing officer
